The Wisconsin State Patrol Motor Officer program began in 1957. Since that time, the program has developed into a valuable and effective tool in our mission as a premier law enforcement and public safety leader.
The Wisconsin State Patrol utilizes motor officers for enforcement patrol, traffic details, and special events throughout the state. The motor officer program also deploys resources nationally to events such as the annual National Law Enforcement Police Week in Washington, D.C.
Motor officers work both individually and as a group deploying resources to large scale festivals, events, and rallies.
Each motorcycle is equipped with mobile data computers and speed detection devices, capable of checking speed compliance from virtually any location.
