TOPICS OF INSTRUCTION:
This course prepares Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) certified officers to effectively administer and teach the vehicle contacts training program. This course emphasizes teaching and learning techniques that promote active learning, support learners with a variety of learning preferences and needs, and generate continuous improvements in teaching and learning.
The goal of this program is to prepare certified officers who are proficient in making vehicle contacts to deliver the LESB-approved vehicle contact curriculum.
OBJECTIVES:
- Identify instructor responsibilities.
- Examine the consequences of inadequate safety monitoring/practices.
- Identify the significant differences between recruit training scenarios and testing scenarios and other forms of training in the preparatory academies.
- Identify the safety requirements needed prior to, during and after a scenario event.
- Utilize safety protocols and equipment.
- Identify non-safety procedures and policies for scenario training and testing.
- Critique the Scenario Instructor Course
PREREQUISITES:
- Completed Criminal Justice Instructor Development Course (CJ-IDC)
- Complete Instructor Training Course Application DJ-LE-336
- State Patrol employees should bring the form completed and it will be signed at the Academy.
- Personnel from outside of the DSP need to have the form signed by an administrator from their agency and submit a copy to the Academy in advance of admission to the course.
Directions to Instructor Candidates:
- This is an instructor course. Anyone attending the instructor course is expected to know the below skills prior to attending the course.
- You must complete all mandatory Performance Assessment Tasks.
- You must pass the final written test with a score of 80% or higher.
- You must complete an evaluation of the program, provided by the instructor.
